The clamp spring is really strong and hold the file or diamond stone at exactly the angle and location where you want it.

I was tempted to simply get a clamp at the hardware store but I figured this was a simple click of the button on the computer and I didn't have to waste time and money driving to the store and tracking down the right sized clamp. Works fine and the spring is strong.
