Holmenkol Wax
Holmenkol is a German wax line with a long World Cup history, organised by color and temperature in the same way most race lines are.
The Mix waxes (Alpha, Beta, Ultra) are the everyday range, each covering a temperature band, and are what most people will use for training and general glide. The base waxes go underneath, in cycles, on new or dried-out skis.
Picking by color is straightforward once you know your snow: colder and drier means harder wax, warmer and wetter means softer. If you are between two, the colder choice is usually safer, since too-soft wax picks up dirt.
