POC Ski Helmets

POC helmets are the ones you see most often in a North American start gate, and Race Werks stocks the race line rather than the resort line: the Skull Dura series for speed events, the Artic SL for slalom, and the junior sizes that fit a growing racer without swimming on them.

Which one you need depends on age class as well as discipline. From U14 up, GS, Super-G, downhill and Kombi require a helmet meeting the FIS standard — look for the "Conforms to FIS Specification RH 2013" sticker. Slalom is the exception: chin guards are permitted, and soft ear protection is allowed on SL helmets only, which is why the Artic SL and the Maxilla guards are usually bought together. U12 and younger do not need the FIS certification, but still need a helmet made for the event, CE marked and covering the head and ears.

Fit matters as much as the certification. A race helmet should sit level, grip the whole head without a pressure point, and leave no gap at the goggle. Fit varies between POC models, so measure around the head just above the ears before ordering.
