Slalom Ski Poles
Slalom poles take a hit at every gate, so they are built differently from GS poles: straight or close to it, always run with guards, and made to survive impact rather than to save every gram.
Choosing a slalom pole
- Shaft size: junior poles use a 16 mm aluminum shaft, adult race poles 18 mm, and World Cup poles such as the Komperdell NT WC go to 19 mm for the stiffest feel through the gate.
- Aluminum or carbon: aluminum bends where carbon breaks, which suits juniors and anyone hard on equipment. Carbon is lighter to swing, for racers who want quicker hands.
- Guards: slalom poles are run with gate guards. Match the guard to the grip system, for example Leki Trigger S guards on Leki Trigger S grips.

Complete slalom setup
Slalom racing takes more than poles. A full setup adds pole guards for the hands, a race helmet with a chin guard, shin and arm guards, race gloves with knuckle protection, and slalom skis such as our junior race skis.
