Waxing Equipment

Wax is only half of a wax job. The other half is the equipment that puts it on the base and takes it back off again, and this is where most home setups fall short.

A usable bench needs four things: an iron that holds temperature steadily, because a cheap household iron swings wildly and scorches bases; a scraper kept genuinely sharp; brushes to clear wax out of the structure; and something to hold the ski still while you work.

Start with irons and accessories, then scrapers and sharpeners, then brushes — hand brushes to begin with, roto brushes once you are tuning several pairs a week. Corks and polishers finish the job.
