Roller Bags

Wheels earn their weight the moment you are walking through an airport with two pairs of skis, boots and a week of gear. For driving to the hill they are extra bulk; for travel they are the difference between manageable and miserable.

Check three things: internal length against your longest ski, wheel quality, since cheap wheels are the first thing to fail on a loaded bag, and whether there is a handle arrangement that lets you tow a boot bag alongside.

Most roller ski bags take two to three pairs plus poles. Confirm your airline's ski-bag allowance before booking — dimensions and fees vary more than you would expect.
