Tuning Equipment

Tuning splits into two jobs that need different tools: edges and bases. Most people start with wax because it is easy, but edges are what a racer feels first.

For edges you need a bevel guide that holds a repeatable angle, files that cut cleanly, and stones to finish and de-burr. The guide matters more than the file — a hand-held file rounds the edge a little more every pass, while a guide gives you the same angle every time.

For bases you need waxing gear, plus repair materials for the gouges that come with rocks and race courses.
