Sweet Protection Ski Helmets
Sweet Protection builds the Trooper and Volata around World Cup use, and both are common in North American start gates.
Which you need is set by age class and discipline. From U14 up, GS, Super-G, downhill and Kombi require a helmet meeting the FIS standard — look for the "Conforms to FIS Specification RH 2013" sticker. Slalom allows chin guards and soft ear protection, which is why SL helmets look different. U12 and younger do not need FIS certification but still need a proper event helmet with a CE mark.
Most models carry MIPS or a similar rotational-impact system, which is worth having.
Fit decides the rest: level on the head, firm all round, no gap at the goggle. See POC helmets, chin guards and all race helmets. We fit helmets in the shop in Boise.
