Junior slalom racers put a forearm through every gate, and the guard that does that job well is the one that doesn't move. POC built the Junior Forearm Race around two problems: taking the hit, and staying exactly where you put it.
The shell is polypropylene throughout, which holds its strength through genuinely cold mornings rather than turning brittle when it matters. A matte outer coating reduces friction against slalom panels, so a racer learning to cross-block cleanly isn't scrubbing speed on every gate.
The fit system is where these earn their price. Velcro with silicone grippers bites into the race suit fabric, which solves the rotation problem that makes cheaper forearm guards frustrating — they end up on the side of the arm halfway down the course. And the EVA interior lining comes out entirely. If your racer is in a padded speed suit, the guard's own padding becomes redundant bulk; pulling it lets the shell sit tight against the suit's existing protection.
That combination — removable liner, gripper closure — means the guards work equally well over a thin GS suit or a padded speed suit, which is the range a junior athlete will actually cover across a season.
