Field of view is the thing you notice in the first thirty seconds and never stop appreciating. The Retina gives you an unusually wide window, and on a course that translates directly — you pick up the next gate earlier, you see the rut developing before you're in it, and you're not turning your head to check what's beside you.
The lens uses POC's Clarity technology, developed with Carl Zeiss, which tunes the color spectrum rather than simply tinting it. The practical effect is better definition in the contrast that matters on snow: the edge of a rut, a patch of ice, the transition from packed to soft. On flat light days it's the difference between reading terrain and guessing at it.
The frame is malleable PU, chosen because it stays flexible in real cold instead of stiffening into a shape that only fits one face. Triple-layer face foam handles the seal and the comfort, and together they let the goggle conform to different face shapes rather than forcing a compromise.
The included Clarity Intense/Partly Sunny Orange lens is Cat. 2 — built for bright to variable conditions rather than heavy overcast or night skiing. If you train through low light regularly, plan on a second lens for those days.
