Chin guards are consumable in slalom. Take enough gates square and one eventually bends past the point where it sits right, and a guard that doesn't sit right is one you stop trusting. This is the replacement for the Sweet Protection Trooper 2Vi SL.
The construction is 4mm steel tubing with a powder-coated finish — heavy-gauge, meant to take repeated direct contact and hold its geometry rather than deforming progressively over a season. At 100 grams it adds almost nothing to the helmet.
It mounts directly to the Trooper SL without tools beyond what's in the box, so swapping a bent guard is a job you do the night before a race rather than a shop visit.
Fitment: this guard fits Sweet Protection Trooper SL helmets only. It will not mount to other Trooper models or to helmets from other manufacturers. If you're running a POC, Rossignol, or other brand of race helmet, you need that manufacturer's guard.
