Ankle pads are the bootfitter's first answer to heel lift. A boot that is the right length can still let the heel rise under load if there is empty space around the ankle bones, and that movement costs edge control at exactly the moment you need it.
These pads are cut from 1/8" dense foam and sold in pairs. They go inside the boot against the liner, filling the hollow either side of the ankle so the heel is held down into the heel pocket. Because they are thin, they can be stacked or trimmed to tune the fit rather than forcing a single fixed thickness on every foot.
Dense foam holds its shape through a season rather than packing flat after a few days, which is the usual failure of softer padding.
