Does your athlete need a certified suit? Usually not yet. FIS certification applies at FIS level and above; U14 and U16 racing at club, state and regional level does not require it. Buy certified if they are about to age into FIS events — otherwise you are paying for a rule that does not apply to them.
Sizing: buy for this season. A suit two sizes large is slower, colder and harder to tuck in, and it will not fit better by March.
