When to use ceramic rather than a progression: maintenance. If the bevel is correct and the edge has simply gone dull or picked up light burrs from a few days' skiing, a ceramic stone restores it in a couple of passes. If the edge is damaged, work-hardened from a rock, or the wrong angle, you need a file and guide first.
Use with water or a polishing solution. Ceramic loads like any abrasive, and a loaded stone burnishes rather than cuts.

Produces awesome edges when used correctly
Love this item. Almost ruined it though - Need to include some recommend practices for using. Once I researched how others were using it I am very happy with it.
