Repair material for base repair guns — the shop method, and a considerable step up from drip-in candles.
The difference is heat control and cleanliness. A gun melts the P-Tex at a set temperature and extrudes it without an open flame, so there is no carbon contamination and the material bonds properly to the base. Repairs done this way stay in.

When a gun is worth it: if you are repairing more than a few skis a season, or fixing damage bigger than a small gouge. A gun fills a long scrape in one controlled pass where candles would need a dozen drips and a lot of scraping afterwards.
Clean the damage first — P-Tex will not bond to wax, dirt or oxidised base. Overfill slightly, cool fully, then cut back flush with a steel scraper.

Better than dripping P-tex
The extruder sticks work better than lower tech dripping P-tex candles. These sticks melt easier than others I have used, so I don't think the final patch is as wear resistant. This plastic takes on a lot of static charge. Static is not good for ski bottoms. I will try to find the other sticks.
