A vise set built for touring and backcountry skis, which are a genuinely awkward shape to clamp — wider underfoot, often with rockered tips and tails that will not sit flat in a conventional race vise.
- Three-piece set: centre vise with tip and tail supports
- Click system holds the ski securely
- Adjustable side edge positions at 60° and 90°
- Lightweight, for field or bench use
The two side-edge positions are the useful part. At 90° the ski sits flat for base work and waxing; rotating to 60° presents the side edge at a comfortable angle so you are not working at an awkward wrist position through a whole pass. On a fixed vise you end up compensating with the tool, which is where inconsistent angles come from.
Three pieces, and use all three. The centre holds the ski down, the end supports stop it twisting. A ski clamped only in the middle rotates under a file, which is the usual reason an edge comes out uneven.
