The pull-and-penetrate loops sound minor and are not. Getting a race mitt off and back on in a start area with cold hands and a bib over the top is genuinely awkward, and loops make it a one-handed job.
Warmth first: this is a warmer mitt than a pure slalom race mitten, with protection focused on the knuckles rather than full 3D padding across the back of the hand. For an athlete taking direct gate contact all day in slalom, a dedicated SL mitt protects more; for GS, speed and cold days, this is the better balance.
