This is the part that quietly goes out of tolerance. A base beveler with worn feet still feels fine in the hand and still produces a clean-looking edge: at an angle that is no longer what the tool says. If your base bevel has been creeping, or skis tuned months apart behave differently, worn feet are a likely cause.

Delrin is chosen for a reason: it slides on a base without marking it and wears predictably rather than chipping. It is a consumable, and treating it as one keeps the tool accurate.

Check your work with a true bar, which reads the bevel directly: the quickest way to confirm the tool is doing what you think it is.
