A small bar makes sense for warm wax if you ski mostly in winter — you may only need it for a few weeks in April, and wax does not improve with age.
Expect to wax more often in spring. Soft wax wears faster and picks up more dirt, and a base that looks clean after a slush day rarely is. Brush thoroughly — soft wax left in the structure is what makes a ski feel sticky.

Spring waxing is a cleaning job as much as a waxing one. Warm snow carries dirt, pine needles and grit, and a contaminated base will not take wax however good the wax is. Clean the base first — a hot scrape with a soft wax is gentler than solvent cleaner — then wax, cool fully, scrape and brush thoroughly.
