Steel is the brush that opens a closed or oxidised base, and on a roto handle it does in seconds what takes minutes by hand.
- Steel bristles, 100 mm width
- Opens base structure before waxing
- Also used for early brushing passes after scraping
- Durable, for high-volume use
Check your handle width first. This is a 100 mm brush and needs a 100 mm handle — see the Single Brush Roto Handle. 140 mm handles take different brushes, and the two are not interchangeable.
Steel is a preparation brush, not a nightly one. It cuts. Use it to restore a base that has gone dry or oxidised, and use bronze or nylon for routine work — then always follow with softer brushes, because a base left after steel is open and rough.
Moderate drill speed, light pressure, keep the tool moving. Heat from a roto brush held in one place damages a base faster than an iron does, and steel builds heat fastest of all.
