Mount it into studs, not drywall anchors. A bench like this takes real downward force when you lean into a scraper pass, and the rigidity you are paying for only exists if the mounting does. Set the height while standing comfortably with your hands on the surface — too low is the usual mistake, and it turns a long tuning session into a backache.
The trade against a folding freestanding bench is portability: this one stays where you put it. If you tune at races as well as at home, you want a portable bench instead, or both.
You still need vises. The bench sets the working height; the vises hold the ski, and most of the stability you feel comes from how firmly the ski is clamped.
