Junior slalom racers take the same gate contact as adults, just at a smaller scale. POC built the Junior Shins Race with the same construction and the same athlete-driven geometry as their senior model, sized down rather than simplified.
The matte outer coating is the feature that separates these from ordinary junior guards. It's engineered to reduce friction against slalom panels, so a racer learning to cross-block properly isn't losing speed to drag every time they take a gate. For a developing athlete, that also reinforces good technique — the guard rewards attacking the line instead of punishing it.
Polypropylene throughout, which holds its strength in cold conditions rather than turning brittle on the sub-zero mornings when junior training actually happens. EVA padding lines the interior for comfort through a full session.
The strap system adjusts genuinely. Velcro fastenings lengthen or shorten depending on where the guard should sit relative to the knee, and multiple pre-drilled holes let you set the position precisely — useful for a growing racer whose fit changes across a season. Straps come off entirely for cleaning.
Sized to fit over a race suit. Sold as a pair.
