A straight 9 mm horsehair hand brush — the anti-static workhorse for clearing wax and finishing a base.
Natural bristle is used here for a specific reason: it does not build static. Static holds fine wax particles against the base, so a synthetic brush can leave a base looking clean while it is still carrying the dust you just removed.

Where it sits: after the coarse work. Use a brass or steel brush to open the structure, then horsehair to clear, then a fine nylon to polish if you are finishing for a race.

Light pressure, many passes, tip to tail. Bristle tips do the work; leaning on a brush wears it without clearing more wax.
