A finer steel brush than the structuring version, and used for a different job: refreshing a base between runs rather than preparing it.
The ultra-fine bristles reach into the micro-structure and lift out the dirt and compacted snow that accumulate through a day, without cutting new structure the way a coarse steel brush does. That makes it a race-day tool — between slalom runs, or between heats — where a coarse brush would be far too aggressive.

Fine steel or coarse steel? The structuring brush opens and restores a tired base; this one maintains a base that is already prepared. Buying the wrong one means either not enough cut or too much.
Still follow with a softer brush. Any steel leaves the surface open; horsehair or nylon returns it to a finished state.
