SVST Oval Carbon Steel - Horsehair Combi Brush

Carbon steel through the middle for micro-structure work, with a soft horsehair perimeter for anti-static polishing — two jobs on one oval block.

Steel is the aggressive end of brushing: it opens a closed or oxidised base and cuts a fine structure into the surface. The horsehair edge then clears without generating the static that holds wax dust against the base.

Use steel deliberately. This is a base-preparation and restoration brush, not a nightly one. Routine use takes material off a base that did not need to lose it — for weekly tuning, brass cleans without cutting as deep.

Always follow with softer brushes. Steel leaves a base open and rough. Horsehair and then nylon bring it back to a finished surface; stopping after steel leaves a ski that looks structured and skis slow.
