The last brush of the sequence. Soft nylon lifts light residue and polishes the surface without disturbing the structure underneath — which is exactly what you want at the end, having spent the previous steps creating that structure.

Where it sits: last. Steel or bronze opens, horsehair clears, soft nylon finishes. Using nylon earlier just loads the bristles with wax a coarser brush should have removed.
Soft or stiff nylon? Soft is for the final polish. Stiff nylon does more of the clearing work and can take over the job of a bronze brush on softer waxes. They are not interchangeable.
Brush until the base stops producing dust. The most common error is stopping too early — a base that still gives up wax powder is not finished.
